Welcome! We’re really excited to introduce you to our two Auckland outdoor education camps - Houghton’s Bush Camp in Muriwai Beach and Hunua Falls Camp in Hunua.
Owned and operated by the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand, in the last typical calendar year - 2019 - the two sites jointly hosted a combined total of more than 7000 guests. Set in beautiful, native bush and surrounded by forest - we aim is to offer affordable accommodation and opportunities for flexible and fun outdoor activities in both locations.
Houghton's Bush Camp
Our Houghton's Bush Camp site can host up to 86 guests in our comfortable, heated bunk rooms. With breathtaking views over Muriwai Beach and the Tasman Sea, we’re only 50 minutes from Auckland’s CBD and 15 minutes from Kumeu. We have a fully equipped commercial gas kitchen with a steriliser. Both a marquee site and a barbecue facility will also be made available. When your group books with us, you will have exclusive use of the venue and three acres of grounds.
Onsite car parking is available, and you will have access to team building activities, orienteering courses and even an adventure playground. There are also popular hiking tracks through native bush and forest, and which visit historic Maori kumara pits.

Hunua Falls Camp
A short one hour drive from Auckland’s CBD, and just 15 minutes from Papakura, our Hunua site can accommodate up to 120 guests at a time. And, great news! The bunk rooms are heated. The backdrop against which camp is set is stunning! It’s only a 300 metre walk through our campsite before you reach Hunua Ranges Regional Park and Hunua Falls.
Featuring a sports field and sports equipment, orienteering courses, a team building course and an adventure playground, your group will have full, exclusive access to our three-acre site which is nestled right next to the Wairoa River. With a fully-equipped commercial gas kitchen, a marquee site and several barbecue facilities are also available. We have onsite car parking and our hall and chapel facilities seat 150 and 100 people respectively.
